On Monday afternoon, shortly after 4 p.m., police responded to a report of a shooting at Kennedy Park.

Witnesses told police that a silver SUV occupied by two black males drove into the area and fired a gun at another male, who was in another vehicle.

The suspects then fled the area towards Cumberland Avenue.

Witnesses were able to provide a description of the suspects to police.

On Wednesday, Portland Police executed a search warrant related to the shooting.

The search warrant execution, which the police say was a “high risk” operation, made use of the Special Reaction Team (SRT) and resulted in traffic on Cumberland Ave being rerouted.

As a result of the search warrant a juvenile male was taken into custody and transported to Long Creek Youth Development Center in South Portland for a probation violation.

No updates were available from the Portland Police Department as of Thursday morning.
