A staffer for U.S. Sen. Ben Cardin (D-Maryland) was fired for filming himself having anal sex with another man in a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing room at the U.S. Capitol complex.
Video of the Cardin staffer’s sex act circulated widely on the Internet, and it didn’t take long before a second video of an unnamed staffer engaging in similar behavior at the Capitol was reported on by Semafor.
“I’m not going to get into the specifics, cause that’s not, that’s not what I know,” said Cardin, when pressed by reporters.
Cardin has been reluctant to give the press any information about his former staffer, Aiden Maese-Czeropski, 24, who no longer works for the senate following the emergence of a video showing him having sex in the hearing room.
According to the Daily Caller, the sex tape was initially shared in a private group chat for gay men in D.C politics.
The Capitol police are investigating the situation, which could result in criminal charges for Maese-Czeropski.
According to the New York Post, Maese-Czeropski had a history of making suggestive comments online using his now deleted Venmo account.
“I want Joe Biden to spit in my mouth,” Maese-Czeropski once posted.
He also appeared in a 2020 campaign video for President Joe Biden.
Following the video’s publication Maese-Czeropski posted a response to LinkedIn.
“While some of my actions in the past have shown poor judgement, I love my job and would never disrespect my workplace,” said Maese-Czeropski.
The video suggests that his love for his job was more than merely professional.
CNN reporter Manu Raju posted a video to X in which he and another reporter attempt to get more information from Cardin, who refused to answer the majority of their questions.
“I’m not going to get into my relationship with staff people,” said Cardin, when asked if he knew the staffer personally.
Tuesday, Cardin’s office was locked to stop people from coming in to ask him further questions about his staffer.
After the video of Cardin’s staffer made national news, Semafor reported that there was another sex video, also including two men, filmed in the Capitol and investigated in 2022.
An aide working for Rep. Dan Newhouse (R-Washington) was reportedly investigated for a video showing two men having sex in an office in the Capitol, and another video showing a man masturbating in a Capitol office.
The aide, who was unnamed by Semafor, denies the allegations, as neither video showed the faces of the men involved.
