The Westbrook Police Department announced Thursday that a 16-year-old male has been arrested in connection to a series of motor vehicle burglaries in the city.

Westbrook Police identified the juvenile male as a suspect, and were able to obtain probable cause to execute a search warrant at the suspect’s residence.

Police say the 16-year-old was arrested without incident at his residence shortly before 9 p.m. last Wednesday evening.

During the search of the juvenile’s residence, Westbrook Police say officers found several items that were stolen from the various motor vehicle burglaries, including a firearm that was stolen from one of the vehicles.

The 16-year-old was charged with two counts of theft, with one count being a felony offense for the theft of a firearm, and burglary to a motor vehicle.

He was transported to the Longcreek Youth Detention Center.

Police say a 17-year-old female of Westbrook who had a probation revocation arrest warrant was also present at the juvenile male’s residence.

The female juvenile was arrested and transported to Longcreek as well.

The firearm was stolen from my neighbor, I actually got them on my doorbell and yard security cameras at 4:24 in the morning. Except there was two of them so I’m not sure if the female was the other suspect.

So the article is lacking a lot of pertinent information, were there parents in this residence? Is this another example of ‘new’ Mainers? As citizens we should know what is the ‘trend’ now that we need to prepare for.
