Susan Collins Won’t Endorse Nikki Haley for 2024 But Stops Short of Backing Donald Trump

Maine Republican Sen. Susan Collins has said she will not be endorsing Donald Trump in 2024, even if the former president secures the Republican Party’s nomination.

However, Collins also said she will not be endorsing former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley — Trump’s last-remaining rival in the 2024 Republican primary.

When asked Wednesday if she could see herself endorsing Trump if he wins the nomination, Collins said “I do not at this point,” the Hill reported Wednesday.

Collins’ statement comes on the heels of Trump securing an 11-point victory over Nikki Haley in Tuesday’s New Hampshire Primary.

“I’m glad to hear last night that Nikki Haley is determined to stay in [the race.] I think the more people see of her, particularly since she appears to be the only alternative to Donald Trump right now, the more impressed they will be,” Collins told the Hill.

According to the Hill, Collins said she will not endorse Haley because of her friendships with the other Republican primary candidates, including former Vice President Mike Pence, former Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson, Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.), and that she “didn’t want to choose among them.”

Senator Collins says she's glad Haley is sticking it out and doesn't see herself ever endorsing Trump.

But she still says she won't endorse Haley, citing the fact that she was friends with lots of candidates in the race (who are no longer in the race).

Sen. Collins, who is the Vice Chair of the Senate Appropriations Committee and the ranking Republican on the Defense Appropriations Subcommittee, was one of seven Senators to vote to convict Trump during his second impeachment trial in early 2021 on the charge of inciting an insurrection.

That said, in late December Collins joined Maine independent Sen. Angus King and Democratic Congressman Jared Golden in opposing Secretary of State Shenna Bellows’ decision to disqualify Trump from appearing on Maine’s 2024 Republican primary ballot.

Maine voters should decide who wins the election – not a Secretary of State chosen by the Legislature.

The Secretary of State’s decision would deny thousands of Mainers the opportunity to vote for the candidate of their choice, and it should be overturned.

Collins is a useless chair warmer — she may as well be a Democrat.

Give them both a clown nose and make up as they are already half way there in looks, and they could be in any Maine State Fair Clown Show,

Collins is a recipient of big military complex donors, of course she prefers war loving Haley.
    She’s not a real Republican.
She’s helped turn Maine into the welfare, poor cousin of the country.
She brags about bringing almost $1.50 back to Maine for every dollar we send to DC in federal taxes.
That means we steal money from the other states.

RINOs making a decision on friendship ranks right up there with RINOs voting the way their donors want them to vote. Collins has supported some good legislation but, for the most part, she is part of the DC problem….looking out for the UniParty, not the American people. MAGA!

Susan Collins has forgotten her obligation to advance the will of her constituents and not her personal opinion. She should justly and fairly inform and educate the people she represents but ultimately honor the will of those who vote to keep her there even if she disagrees. Loyalty to the people and not the political wind that undercuts that responsibility and advances the power grip of the political establishment that is destroying the moral, ethical, and legal foundation of this country and as a consequence the possibility of a viable and sustainable future for the generations that follow.

Susan Collins is the classic RINO example why conservatives lose. She should just run as the democrat she really is. What a phony. I refuse to vote for her. Maybe she will do actual conservatives a favor and not run when her term is up.

Her close partner and Independent senator who sits with the Democrates, Joie, told here ahat to due.
