The conservative group Courage is a Habit is continuing its fight against LD 227, the so-called “transgender trafficking” bill, which is currently under consideration in Maine’s legislature.
“LD 227 is the worst assault against parental rights we have ever seen. It offers protection to transgender traffickers while penalizing parents for seeking legal recourse against malpractice,” said the organization.
Alvin Lui, president of Courage is a Habit, sent out an email urging Mainers to contact members of the Health Coverage, Insurance and Financial Services Committee, who will be voting on the bill following a Thursday work session. Courage is a Habit is also very active on social media, where they work to spread infographics such as the one below to increase awareness of the bill’s contents.
LD 227, put forward by Rep. Anne Perry (D-Calais), has prompted widespread outrage both in Maine and throughout the nation, with 15 GOP Attorneys General writing a letter threatening legal action against Maine if the bill passes.

Under the law, adults would be legally protected if they brought a child into Maine to procure transgender procedures against the parents’ will, even if the adult is not related to the child in any way.
It applies similar protections for adults bringing minors into Maine for abortions.
Maine would essentially become a sanctuary state for anyone in America who wishes to procure abortion or sex-change related procedures, which would be paid for by the Maine taxpayer if the individual undergoing the procedures is unable to pay themselves.
Representative Laurel Libby explained LD 227 in an interview with the Maine Wire:
Taxpayer-funded public schools would also be immune from repercussions if they concealed from parents that their child was receiving drugs such as puberty blockers, and parents would have no legal means to oppose the transitioning of their children.
Courage is a Habit highlighted other problems with the bill as well, pointing out that it requires all insurance companies to pay for “gender-affirming care” for minors as defined by WPATH, an organization with a history of egregious ethics violations.
Insurance companies would not be required to cover aid for children seeking to de-transition.
The public hearing on the bill saw a massive turnout from concerned Mainers testifying against the legalization of “transgender trafficking,” despite the hearing being held as Mainers were casting their ballots in the presidential primary.
Lui hopes that by informing the public of the contents of the bill, the outpouring of opposition will continue to grow before the Thursday work session.
“Let’s hit them hard,” said Lui.

Someone needs to drive a stake into the heart of this bill so it can never resurface again. These Democrats have gone insane.
This bill is just another attempt to destroy America. These Democrats don’t care about families rights it’s all about turning Maine into California. Taking away parents rights is evil but it’s part of the democrats plan and they won’t stop until they destroy everything .They probably will get this bill passed because they run the state .
Maine voters keep voting the Democrats in. This insanity will continue until voters stop voting Dems into office.
This is government taking control of families and destroying family units.
Maine doesn’t have a very good record taking care of the children who live here. Child abuse, some have been killed. LD227 should not even be brought to floor for discussion much less a vote.
