During a contentious interview with X CEO Elon Musk, former CNN reporter Don Lemon repeatedly denied that Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) principles would lead to any lowering of standards in the medical industry — or really any industry.

“A surgeon in training is asked to do a series of operations under the supervision of a senior surgeon, and they get a bunch of those operations wrong, If that happens, and if they are still approved to be a surgeon, the probability that someone will die, I think at some point is high,” said Musk.
“Ok, I understand that, but that’s a hypothetical, that doesn’t mean its happening,” said Lemon, “Why do you think they’re lowering standards for minority doctors or women doctors?”
Evidence shows that Lemon is wrong, and that DEI has lowered the standards in medicine, alongside numerous other industries.
Conservative commentator Ben Shapiro highlighted some of the DEI standard changes in medicine in a thread on X last month.
In 2023, Wake Forest Medical School student Kychelle Rosario, an Asian woman, bragged publicly on X about injuring a conservative patient while drawing blood.
According to Shapiro, Rosario is now graduating from the school with a medical degree.
The conservative commentator also published a video of Dr. Vignesh Raman, a staff surgeon at the Duke University School of Medicine, discussing a change in medical hiring standards in the name of DEI.
“Part of this has involved transitioning to completely holistic review process,” said Raman, “Abandoning, you know, all sort of metrics and screens, looking at people’s life story, and what brought them into surgery.”
Raman explained that Duke University accepts students for surgical training based on their “life stories,” while ignoring any metrics which suggest their ability to become effective surgeons.
With these standards, Americans could face life-threatening surgeries under the knives of surgeons hired because of their life stories and skin color rather than their experience and skill.
The medical field is far from the only essential field which has been beset by lowered standards.
On Friday, the Washington Supreme Court ruled that the state would allow “alternative pathways” to licensure for people seeking to practice law.
The court cited the failure of “marginalized groups” to pass the traditionally required bar exam as the main reason for its ruling.
“The traditional bar exam disproportionately and unnecessarily blocks marginalized groups from entering the practice of law, and the traditional bar exam is at best minimally effective for ensuring competent lawyers,” said the ruling.
Amid the controversy surrounding Boeing’s unsafe aircraft production standards, reports have shown that DEI has infiltrated the airline industry, and lowered the standards for pilots.

According to a Delta Airlines pilot, speaking anonymously to The Daily Wire, the airline promoted a transgender pilot who had received numerous complaints because of his identity.
According to the source, the transgender pilot was promoted despite conduct which would normally result in a pilot failing the airline’s probationary period.
During his investigation into lowered airline standards, conservative commentator Matt Walsh posted a video to X showing officials of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) discussing plans to reduce the percentage of white men in the organization.
While large government agencies such as the FAA have lowered their standards, so have smaller, state and city level organizations such as police and fire departments.
The Nashville, Tennessee Police Department has significantly lowered its physical fitness requirements in an attempt to meet a national challenge to fill all police departments with 30 percent female officers by 2030.
In order to achieve the 30 percent female goal, Chief John Drake signed onto an initiative which significantly lowered training standards in 2021.

Amid a nationwide epidemic of growing crime across the country, police departments, even in the politically-red Tennessee, are prioritizing meeting DEI quotas over hiring police officers physically capable of stopping violent criminals.
Although DEI initiatives have ramped up in recently, they have been lowering standards in essential fields for years.
A 2015 New York Post report revealed that the New York City Fire Department (FDNY) lowered the physical examination standards for its entrance exam shortly after it hired a female firefighter after she failed the department’s physical training.
As part of those changes, the FDNY moved from an objective, time based standard for the completion of training exercises, to a subjective evaluation.
“The reason they developed a time standard was to make sure standards remain high and are trusted, a subjective standard would undermine that trust,” a retired FDNY firefighter told the New York Post.
Where does this evidence suppose to come from? Oh, we hired someone not qualified, but are the right race or gender and we better report it? The MSM is one of biggest threats to our country today.
Ayuh,…. We are witnessing the collapse of the American society,….
Don Lemon is irrelevant. He checks the boxes of gay and black as does KJP which are the ONLY reasons they occupy their positions.
Maybe its me but when I look into it i didn’t see any thing saying duke lowered its standard. I also looked into the airlines and they have but due to shortage of pilots. The military did the same as well and all new soldiers seem unqualified white, black Hispanic, i just dont think we can look at companies trying to get diversity as lowering standards, but I would love to see where standards have been lowered. To be honest even before dei there was an abundance of ppl getting positions where they weren’t qualified and not good at there job, this includes black, whites etc
Graduating High School in the 1970’s and looking for employment my chances of working for a large manufacturing high paying company were non existent. I was told white men need not apply they were only hiring blacks and women. DEI has been around my entire life. Turns out it was best I didn’t get the jobs. I have owned my own business for 39 years.

The difference between hiring white that are not qualified vs a dei hire is that the incompetent whites can be removed from that position without threat of lawsuit.
Yikes, when all your sources are social media YouTuber influencers whether it be left or right your article looses credibility. What happened to real journalism where the ones writing articles or in this case opinion pieces went straight to the sources versus having someone who agrees with them pull links that doesn’t even back up their claims.
This was lazy research at best.
Ohhhhh, please, he was hired by CNN because he checked a lot of the DEI boxes!
If you watch the entire interview, it’s apparent Elon takes the comment section of X as truth, which is a scary thought.
The public schools of America is succeeding…turning out lazy skulls full of mush students.
Your article fails to articulate what these “standards” were lowered to and why. No one can make an informed, unbiased decision based on the information you’ve reported. Maybe you should ask someone to proofread before publishing?
