U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has reported the death of a 24-year-old Guatemalan woman who fell from the border fence near a Port of Entry at Otay Mesa, south of San Diego, California.
According to CBP’s Office of Professional Responsibility (OPR), Border Patrol agents reported a group of migrants approaching the secondary International Border Fence, which is about 30 feet tall, at around 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 21.
The group of multiple migrants was reportedly carrying a ladder.
A Border Patrol agent arrived at the scene and observed a woman who had climbed to the top of the 30-foot fence.
The agent advised her not to climb down the north side, or attempt to scale down the north side of the fence. The woman, however, crossed over and became stuck, CBP said.
CBP says the Border patrol agent then called for help from the San Diego Fire Department and assured the woman that assistance was on the way.
At approximately 10:45 p.m., a second Border Patrol agent arrived at the scene on the south side of the fence, followed by a San Diego Fire Department Truck — however, because of the size of the truck, it could not navigate through a nearby gate to reach the woman’s location and had to take an alternate route, CBP stated.
According to CBP, the woman stuck on the fence repeatedly yelled down to Border Patrol agents that she was struggling to hold on to the fence, and ultimately at 10:54 she fell from the fence, striking the elevated concrete base on the north side.
CBP agents requested emergency medical services, and at 11:04 p.m. fire department personnel found the woman unresponsive with severe head trauma.
Despite attempts to revive her, including CPR, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 11:17 p.m., CBP said.
The woman was identified as a 24-year-old citizen of Guatemala.
Both the San Diego Police Department and San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office are currently investigating the incident.
CBP’s OPR is also conducting a review of the incident, and has notified the San Diego Fire Department Professional Standards Unit and the Department of Homeland Security Office of Inspector General.
CBP also stated their commitment to releasing body worn camera footage captured by Border Patrol agents during the incident “as soon as it is appropriate to do so and will not impact the ongoing law enforcement investigations.”
Migrant? Don’t you mean illegal? When they break into your home do call them a migrant or a criminal?
What’s disgusting is the Patrol will get blamed for this, even though she CHOSE to climb the fence and they repeatedly told her not to do it.
Finally….some good news…..
Gabriela sat on a wall
Gabriela had a great fall
all of dementia Joe Biden’s men
couldn’t put Gabriela back together again.
Oh well,…. The fence worked, just fine,….
Hey Ed, look up the definition of migrant, these are not migrants. Migrants come here with the intention of going back to where they came from. Illegal immigrants come here with the intent of never leaving. A huge difference, do not let the left change definitions of words.
These aren’t immigrants at all. They are illegal alien invaders. Let’s stop using euphemisms and call a spade a spade. Proof positive that walls do work.
I find it hard to drum up any sympathy for her.
F..k! her and Mills!
Oh, No!
Great news, now if only 5,000 more this week would do the same thing! She was an alien invader not a migrant! No sympathy for invading parasites until they are gone the country will suffer!
