More Than 10% of Maine Dem Presidential Primary Ballots Left Blank in Protest Vote Against Biden

More than 10 percent of the ballots cast in Maine’s March 5 Democratic presidential primary election were recorded as “blank” amid frustration among the progressive rank-and-file voters of the party with President Joe Biden over his administration’s handling of the ongoing Israel-Hamas war.

Prior to the March 5 primary, a coalition of pro-Palestine groups led a “ceasefire” write-in initiative as a protest against the Biden administration.

The Maine write-in initiative came after a similar pro-Palestine campaign in Michigan, home of the largest Arab population in the U.S., led to 13 percent of Democrat ballots — 100,995 total votes — being cast in the state’s Feb. 27 primary for “uncommitted” instead of Biden.

Unlike Michigan, the State of Maine records votes cast for undeclared write-in candidates, so “ceasefire” write-ins would only be reported as “blank,” making it impossible to determine the number of “ceasefire” votes cast.

According to the official 2024 Maine Democratic primary election results from the Maine Secretary of State’s Office, 7,359 ballots statewide were reported as “blank” — just over 10 percent of the total 72,480 ballots cast.

The largest number of “blank” ballots were reported in Portland (1,374), South Portland (328), Lewiston (130), and Bangor (108).

In Portland, the share of blank ballots made up about 20 percent of the total ballots cast.

Maine’s 1st Congressional District, politically much more liberal than CD-2, reported a total of 4,834 blank ballots, while CD-2 reported 2,525.

By way of comparison, on the Republican side, just 1,022 out of nearly 110,000 total ballots cast on March 5 were reported as blank — a little less than one percent.

The first presidential general election polling out of Maine was released last month, and surprisingly showed Republican former President Donald Trump leading the incumbent Biden by six points.

While in the 2020 election Biden beat Trump by almost 10 points, the Pan Atlantic Research survey showed Biden is deeply unpopular with Maine voters, with a net favorability of rating of -23 percent.

The story of five little pigs.

Two days ago a pig who spent time in Maine along with his family stayed at home with his
mouth shut in a State over run buy illegals..

Three pigs went to the big apple to mix the so called “verry rich and famous” to pick their pockets of gold to keep their fibbing mouths moving.

And the fifth pig was with the people he worked for and he was supported as he honored a MAN who supported our American values.

The Dems would support P. Diddy for president before they’d vote for Trump. Happy “Transgender Day of Visibility “ to all the progressive freaks!

All the democrats switched party affiliation to vote for Nimrata Haley in Rangely, Maine. She won Rangely in a land slide. If this site was concerned with election shenanigans instead of weed grows they might do the math and note that the democrats that voted for biden* in 2020 were a mysterious no show in Rangely but the republicans in Rangely suddenly dumped Trump. Weird.

Some people on this site think republicans didn’t vote for Trump in the primary. What that person doesn’t understand is that democrats switch parties in the primary and switch back for the general. Sec of state shenna bellows also recently allowed independents (or rather non declared because she nixed the independent party) to vote in the primary. So democrats switched to non declared , with ability to vote in democrat or Republican primary of their choice, and then they can switch back to democrat pig party for general.
