Lewiston Police on Tuesday announced the arrest of two out-of-state fugitives from Massachusetts, one of whom is wanted for a recent homicide.

The arrests came on Tuesday afternoon following a coordinated traffic stop on Pleasant St. in Lewiston, with assistance from the U.S. Marshals Service and the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office, police said.

Police stopped 20-year-old Jeremiah Abreu, of Brockton, Mass., who is wanted on a warrant out of Massachusetts for a homicide that occurred this past weekend.

According to CBS News Boston, Abreu is accused of shooting his brother, 27-year-old Sedrick Abreu, at a home in Brockton last Sunday.

Abreu was transported to the Androscoggin County Jail where he will await extradition to Massachusetts.

Police say they also encountered another male subject in the vehicle who refused to identify himself and was in possession of a firearm.

The male subject was taken to the Lewiston Police station for identification via fingerprint analysis, which led to him being identified as 22-year-old Dominic Peterson, also of Brockton, Mass.

According to Lewiston Police, Peterson is wanted on a slew of warrants out of Massachusetts, including assault and battery on a family member, assault with a dangerous weapon, possession of ammunition without an FID (Firearms Identification Card), and carrying a firearm without a license.

Lewiston Police also charged Peterson with failure to provide a corrected name/address/DOB, illegal possession of a firearm, and fugitive from justice.
