U.S. Rep. Chellie Pingree, along with 147 other Democrats, voted against a bill which would require the detention and deportation of any illegal immigrant who assaults a law enforcement officer.

“Today, Democrats had a choice between standing up for our law enforcement or standing with illegal immigrants. Unsurprisingly, they chose illegal immigrants,” said Rep. Jeff Drew (R-N.J.), the bill’s sponsor, on X.

The bill, H.R. 7343, the Detain and Deport Illegal Aliens Who Assault Cops Act, requires the Secretary of Homeland Security to take any illegal immigrant who assaults a law enforcement officer into custody, which would be followed by a prosecution and could lead to a deportation.

It was originally introduced in February, and has now passed through the House following a 265-148 vote.

All Republicans voted in favor of the bill, except six who did not vote at all, while Democrats were split on the issue.

The majority of them, voted with Rep. Pingree in opposition to the bill, although 54 broke with their party’s majority and voted with Republicans.

The Maine Wire reached out to Pingree, asking why she does not support the deportation of illegal alien criminals, but she did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

U.S. Rep. Jared Golden was among the Democrats who supported the bill.

H.R. 7343 is not the first bill considered this year meant to facilitate the deportation of illegal immigrant criminals.

Another bill, passed through the house in February, seeks to deport illegals who commit social security fraud.

That bill passed with similar numbers as Wednesday’s vote, and also saw opposition from Pingree and support from Rep. Golden.

In a more recent vote, earlier this month, Pingree and Golden united in their support for illegal immigrants, with votes in support of counting them in the census.

That bill, which was proposed by Republicans to stop illegal immigrants from being counted in the census, which is used to determine congressional districts, drew opposition from every Democrat who voted, but passed with an extremely narrow, four vote margin.

You have to realize that Chellie Pingree doesn’t care about voting the interests of the people of Maine. Her total allegiance is to the Democratic Party. She’s become a Washington Swamp Creature. It’s time to vote her out of office.

I hold my nose whenever that political hack opens her mouth and is quoted on any matter. What a waste of human flesh!

I think M Waters said it best “Let’s make sure we show up wherever we have to show up. And if you see anybody from that Cabinet in a restaurant, in a department store, at a gasoline station, you get out and you create a crowd. And you push back on them. And you tell them they’re not welcome anymore, anywhere.” I sickens me to quote that babbling hag but in this case it makes perfect sense.

Chellie Pingree, the Maine Rep who wants more illegals brought into Maine because Maine has the oldest residents in the nation, and we need more young people….oh, and she’s also for abortion. What a juxtaposition.

This bimbette [not even a full fledged bimbo] couldn’t find her way out of paper bag without a guidebook and has no idea what she votes on 99% of the time. She is controlled by handlers and is incapable of forming original thought. Democrats in Maine get exactly what they elected and the rest of us suffer as a result.

…illegal aliens should not even be in the country to attack ANYONE, let alone law enforcement! They should have been deported IMMEDIATELY and we wouldn’t be having these duma$$ conversations. Democrats cannot see pass their noses in policy making. They create the chaos and then scratch their empty heads trying to come up with a solution. Despicable!

“The bill, H.R. 7343, the Detain and Deport Illegal Aliens” Note that the proper descriptor is not the woke “illegal immigrants” which I am dissappointed to see the Maine Wire is employing, but rather the accurate and proper phrase: “Illegal Aliens”. As Saul Alinsky wrote in his Rules for Radicals: Controlling the language used controls the argument.

You could have ended that headline after the word “think”.
