According to Portland Police, officers responded to a report of shots fired at 10:30 p.m. on Monday, May 13, on Alder Street, in Portland’s Bayside neighborhood.

While investigating, officers in the area heard a gunshot coming from the direction of Chestnut Street — just blocks away from Alder Street — and dispatch received a second call for shots fired, police said.

Witnesses in the area reported seeing a male with a gun fleeing the area to police.

After a foot pursuit, during which the suspect allegedly dropped a handgun officers located the individual and arrested him on Lancaster Street.

The juvenile male was charged with criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon, reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon and theft by receiving stolen property.

He was taken to the Longcreek Youth Development Center, police said Tuesday.
