The Holden Police Department on Thursday announced that they had raided a house in connection to an ongoing investigation into Chinese-owned illegal marijuana growing operations.

Dozens of similar properties have been searched by local law enforcement and county sheriff’s offices in recent months in connection to a sprawling network of illicit marijuana grows throughout rural Maine with suspected ties to Asian transnational organized crime.

Holden Police executed a search warrant on a home on Winters Road in Holden at about 8:30 a.m. Thursday.

The warrant was part of an on-going active investigation into an illegal Chinese marijuana growing, police said.

Although no arrests were made as a result of the search of the residence, evidence was seized.

The address of the raided property appears to be 51 Winters Rd. in Holden.

That home was bought in 2020 by a Xiao Ping Li and Huiyin Li, according to public records.

“This investigation continues to demonstrate the dangerous conditions and illegal actions occurring in these residential homes,” Holden Police wrote in a Thursday post to social media.

“A big thank you to the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office, Homeland Security Investigations, and the Office of Cannabis Policy for their assistance with this case,” they wrote.

No further information was released by police.

Once again, the Maine State Police appear to have not been involved in the effort.

The high amperage sometimes observed at weed houses isn’t to grow plants, which are a smelly and obvious distraction. The amperage is for welding narcotics airtight inside metal objects so they’re undetectable by K-9.

No one from China comes here to become a cannabis grower or a narcotics dealer. If there actually were even fifty triads in the whole state they’d catch every one of you corrupt white people who finance yourselves with narcotics while pointing your fingers at others not even present.

Nobody ever got rich selling reefer; it simply isn’t worth that much.

Narcotics are a totally different story.

There isn’t enough population here for these massive amounts of them. Nearly all of this semi-sophisticated narcotics activity is for out-of-state usage. Most of those who created the goofy grow house idea are leos and feds from other states.

Maine should have a 5yr probation period for out-of-staters who attempt to move to Maine. Real Mainers should be deputized to conduct frequent welfare checks. An out-of-stater who moves here and proceeds immediately into the lifestyle of a socialite should be recognized not as someone who is friendly and generous but instead someone who is networking. Networking is the practice of learning how and who and where illegal activity, such as obtaining a garage in a remote or private way area in which narcotics may be welded airtight inside metal objects to defeat K-9, are optimal. Holding picnics, barbecues, and landowner meetings should be recognized for what they really are, especially when out-of-staters are involved. Purchase of abandoned and derelict properties should be an option open only to mainers in good standing, not felons, sex offenders, etc

While the narcotics problem in Maine is growing, it is possible to put a stop to it with technology. Just as traffic cams are highly effective in stopping vehicle offenses, narcotics scanners could be very effective in stopping narcotics abusers. Maine has a couple of very nice FEMA camps that narcotics traffickers could be removed from society and put into, as well as repeat narcotics offenders.
