The Penobscot County Sheriff’s Department arrested a Glenburn man on Wednesday after he allegedly failed to report for a prison sentence following a guilty plea.

Penobscot deputies and detectives mounted an investigation into the whereabouts of Donald Searway, 41, of Glenburn, due to outstanding arrest warrants for his alleged failure to report to jail for a two-year sentence.

He pleaded guilty to unspecified charges on September 29 but was not in jail at the time of the plea.

He allegedly failed to report to the jail to serve his sentence, and the Penobscot County Jail filed an affidavit for failure to report.

Probation and parole conditions were initiated, and an arrest warrant was granted.

Deputies allegedly spotted Searway in a vehicle on Union Street in Hermon.

They initiated a traffic stop on Billings Road and immediately arrested Searway when his vehicle stopped.

He now faces additional charges for unlawful possession of Schedule W drugs after he was allegedly discovered with fentanyl, and he was held on a probation violation.

One of the vehicle’s other passengers, Curt Leighton, 47, of Corinth, was charged with unlawful possession of Schedule W drugs, but he was released at the scene.
