A Waterville man pleaded guilty Thursday in U.S. District Court in Bangor to conspiring to steal firearms from a federally licensed dealer and stealing a total of 15 firearms.

In court records, federal prosecutors accused Damiean Marcial-Alexander, 21, of hatching a plan alongside a coconspirator in April 2022 to break into a Waterville firearms dealer and to steal multiple firearms.

Investigators uncovered Instagram and text messages between the coconspirators planning the theft, including a map to the location from Marcial-Alexander’s apartment, as well as photos of the two men holding some of the stolen firearms, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Maine stated.

According to theft report from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), the pair stole a total of 15 firearms — six revolvers and nine semi-automatic pistols — including Glock Model 17 Gen5 9mm pistol and a Smith & Wesson .38 special revolver.

Marcial-Alexander faces up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine followed by up to three years of supervised release.

The case was investigated by the ATF with assistance from the Waterville Police Department
