HOWLAND, Maine — Maine State Police are investigating a single-vehicle crash that occurred early Friday morning on Interstate 95 in Howland, leaving a Bangor man injured and closing part of the highway for several hours.

According to state police, troopers responded to the crash at approximately 5:02 a.m. on Friday, April 3, 2026, at mile marker 220 northbound.

When authorities arrived, they found a 2024 Freightliner box truck overturned on its side roughly 50 feet off the roadway in a wooded area.

The driver, 55-year-old Kwasi Baidu of Bangor, was trapped inside the cab and had to be extricated by Howland Fire and EMS personnel. He was then transported to Eastern Maine Medical Center with what officials described as minor injuries.

Investigators said that speed and snow/rain conditions were likely contributing factors in the crash.

The incident forced the closure of lane two for several hours while crews worked to remove the truck from the tree line.

Howland Fire and EMS and Union Street Towing assisted Maine State Police at the scene.
