Trump Calls for Automatic Green Cards For Anyone Graduating From an American College

Former President Donald Trump angered conservatives last week after he claimed during an interview that he plans to give any non-citizen who gets a college degree in the U.S. a “green card,” entitling them to stay in the country legally.

“A two year degree in political science should NOT grant you legal U.S. residency. I’m for legal immigration. We should welcome skilled people who can strengthen our republic & who subscribe to the values enshrined in our Constitution. But this ain’t it,” said Rep. Thomas Massie (R-K.Y.) responding to President Trump’s statements.

While appearing on the All-In podcast on Wednesday, Trump was asked about how he would bring highly skilled workers from foreign countries such as India into the U.S. where they could benefit the economy.

“What I want to do, and what I will do, is you graduate from a college, I think you should get automatically as part of your diploma a green card to be able to stay in this country, and that includes junior colleges too,” said Trump.

“Anybody graduates from a college, you go in there for two years or four years, if you graduate, or you get a doctorate degree from a college, you should be able to stay in this country,” he added.

On the podcast, Trump argued for his plan as a way to stop motivated graduates with business plans from leaving and bringing their business ideas back to China or India, rather than keeping them in the U.S.

During the interview, however, Trump stated that he wanted the plan to apply to any college degree, including two-year associates degrees.

He did not specify any particular kind of degree, nor did he specify any performance requirements, meaning that, based on what he said during the podcast, a gender studies major who graduated with a two-year degree and a bare minimum GPA would be allowed to stay in the country.

Following the backlash from the interview, Trump’s Campaign secretary Karoline Leavitt issued a statement clarifying his position.

“President Trump has outlined the most aggressive vetting process in U.S. history, to exclude all communists, radical Islamists, Hamas supporters, America haters and public charges,” said Leavitt “He believes, only after such vetting has taken place, we ought to keep the most skilled graduates who can make significant contributions to America. This would only apply to the most thoroughly vetted college graduates who would never undercut American wages or workers.”

Trump’s statement comes days after the Biden Administration announced a path for over 500 thousand illegal immigrants, including college graduates, to gain legal status.

Trump did not suggest that his policy would grant legal status to people studying at American colleges illegally.

NO!!
I am voting Trump but like everyone else, there is no one on earth I completely agree with 100% of the time.
This is on big one I disagree on.
The leftists who run colleges will just get them here and put them in programs like racial studies, give them a degree and poof!, they have another Dirty Dem voter.
Not a good idea.
