A man wanted for a felony domestic violence charge was found on Tuesday by Auburn Police in possession of a handgun and a significant quantity of illegal drugs, the agency announced on Wednesday.
According to Auburn Police, at about 3 p.m. on Tuesday officers responded to 21 Spring St. in Auburn in an attempt to locate 29-year-old Omar M. Omar, who was wanted on an outstanding warrant for felony domestic violence.
Police say Omar was located at the address, and a search warrant was drafted and executed for the residence.
During the search, officers found a loaded Sig Sauer 9mm handgun. Police say Omar has a prior felony conviction, barring him from legally possessing a firearm.
Also found in the search was approximately 10 grams of cocaine base (crack), 34 Oxycodone pills, nine grams of fentanyl, five grams of cocaine, as well as digital scales and over $2,000 cash in suspected drug proceeds.
Omar was arrested on the outstanding domestic violence warrant, as well as on four counts of aggravated drug trafficking and illegal possession of a firearm.
He was transported to the Androscoggin County Jail where his bail was set at $10,000.
