A fugitive wanted in Maine for multiple firearms violations was apprehended by the U.S. Marshals Service (USMS) in Auburn on Wednesday, the federal agency announced.

The fugitive was identified as 34-year-old Matthew Gallagher of Lewiston, who had warrants out for his arrest in Androscoggin County on charges of theft of a firearm, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person and criminal threatening with a firearm.

Gallagher was also wanted by the Maine Department of Corrections for a probation violation, USMS said.

An joint investigation into Gallagher’s whereabouts by USMS and the Lewiston and Auburn Police Departments led to the search of an apartment on Main Street in Auburn on Wednesday.

During the search, Gallagher fled from the apartment and onto the roof of the building, and in an attempt to avoid capture leaped to the roof of a neighboring building, USMS said.

Authorities observed Gallagher on the roof and ordered him to come down. After being surrounded he descended from the rooftop and surrendered to law enforcement without incident.

Gallagher was arrested on the outstanding warrants and was booked at the Androscoggin County Jail.

Looks more like the Mills family to me. Another fine upstanding Lewiston citizen. I felt my IQ drop when I looked at the photo.
