Tractor Trailer Carrying Wind Turbine Blade Shut Down Part of Route 1 After Crashing into Bridge, Rolling Over

A section of Route 1 in Mid-Coast region was shut down Friday after a tractor trailer truck carrying a wind turbine blade to Columbia struck a railroad bridge in Stockton Springs.

Reports indicate that the vehicle collided with the bridge around 5:30am on Friday, causing both the tractor and trailer to overturn, requiring officials to cordon off the area.

According to the Maine State Police, the driver did not “position the vehicle far enough into the left lane to navigate the lower side of the train trestle resulting in the crash.”

“The windmill blade, mounted on large brackets, struck the trestle, causing the truck, trailer, and blade to roll over,” the police explained in a press release.

It appears that the bridge only sustained “minor damage” as a result of the incident.

The Maine State Police, Stockton Springs Fire Department, Waldo County Sheriff’s Office, Maine Department of Transportation (MDOT), and Maine Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) are on the scene. STX — the truck driver’s employer — and representatives from the railroad also responded to assess the situation.

Due to the size of the turbine blade, “the only viable option is to load the blade onto another trailer and reverse it back to Searsport.” This “complex operation” is expected to be achieved by early Saturday morning.

“Most “ bridges in Maine that you pass under, have the height clearly painted on the face of the bridge, so that drivers can easily see it .
So was the bridge not labeled / painted by D.O. T . ?
Or ….did the truck driver not read it …..couldn’t read it ?
Wrong language ? Illiterate ? Texting ? Having a beer ?
I guess the “ Non English speaking “ would be an excuse , but being stupid isn’t .
Maybe we can find some “ New Mainers” to drive the big rigs in Maine …..LOL
Let’s build a big battery factory in Lincoln !
It will be obsolete in FIVE years and then the taxpayers can pay to clean it up .

Looking at the bridge on Google Earth there is no sign on the bridge indicating the clearance but that’s no excuse.

Offshore wind is a frightful folly perpetrated by shortsighted Governors of the Northeast in collaboration with self-serving globalists such as Gov Phil Murphy of NJ.

That wind blade “accident” is a SIGN… to turn away from the wind Scam !

Gov. Mills: please Turn back from the misguided Biden Energy.
