PORTLAND — A Thomaston resident pleaded guilty Monday on federal charges after assaulting a U.S. Border Patrol agent engaged in official duties by driving her vehicle toward the officer during a roadside stop.
Olivia Wilkins, 24, entered the plea to the federal charge related to the incident on Aug. 25, 2025 in the town of Washington in Knox County. The maximum possible sentencing stands at 20 years in prison.
According to federal law enforcement, the assault occurred as a Border Patrol agent was responding to a vehicle crash involving a box truck along Route 17. As the agent and other officers conducted their roadside investigation and apprehended a suspect, Wilkins arrived at the scene and parked nearby the officers. Shortly after, she proceeded to drive her vehicle towards the agent.
A federal grand jury indicted Wilkins on the assault charge back on Oct. 22, 2025 and the case proceeded in the U.S. District Court in Portland, where prosecutors described Wilkins’ actions as direct interference with an agent’s performance of official duties.
Wilkins appeared in court on Monday, Mar. 23, 2026 and admitted her guilt to the single count of assault on a federal officer, resolving the indictment without a trial.
No sentencing date is scheduled yet and the matter remains under the jurisdiction of the U.S. District Court in Portland as the U.S. Attorney’s Office handles the prosecution.
