The Franklin County Sheriff’s Department arrested a Skowhegan man on Friday after he was allegedly caught with illegal drugs following a crash with a New Hampshire driver.

Franklin Deputy Isaac Wacome responded at approximately 9:47 p.m. to reports of a two-vehicle crash on Anson Valley Road in New Vineyard.

Following an investigation, deputies allegedly determined that Zackery Eaton, 26, of Skowhegan, was operating a 2008 Ford Fusion eastbound when he lost control and reportedly swerved into the opposite lane.

He allegedly struck a GMC pickup truck operated by Joseph Bergeron, 25, of Hudson, NH.

The extent of the damage to the vehicles is not clear, but neither man was injured in the crash.

During the investigation, deputies learned that Eaton was allegedly operating with a suspended license and was in possession of cocaine.

He was charged with unlawful possession of scheduled drugs and operating with a suspended license.

Franklin County K-9 Rahka assisted in the investigation.
