Well that didn’t take long.
Not long for a song anyway.
But as the adage goes, you gotta make hay while the sun shines.
As it turns out, the recent collapse of a Maine bridge under construction has now spawned a melodic hymn – by the group with the same name as the bridge.
Following the collapse two weeks ago of the Stillwater Bridge spanning a river by that name in Old Town, music has already been written about the incident, according to Jordan Verge of i95rocks.com.
Maine-based musician Kiera Luu, a member of the band Stillwater, has shared an original song about the collapse on the band’s social media pages.
“One calm and sunny summer day, not a storm cloud to be found, the Old Town bridge crumbled down, in the river she did drown,” are part of the song’s melodic lyrics.
When asked whether the song would be available to stream, Luu said it would eventually be released on Bandcamp and the band’s website.
A section of the new Llewellyn Estes Bridge collapsed August 13 over the Stillwater River partially collapsed while crews were pouring concrete for the bridge deck, injuring several construction workers.
The bridge was still under construction and not open to traffic, and the Maine Department of Transportation is working with federal experts to determine what caused the span to fail.
We haven’t heard too much about this .
Was UMO involved with any of the design & engineering ?
If the floating windmill deal never materialized , are they now switched over to designing our state bridges ?
