A 36-year-old New York man is facing multiple charges following a pursuit and altercation with Portland police early Monday morning.

Francis O. Olukogbon, of Uniondale, N.Y., was arrested after a vehicle pursuit that ended in a foot-chase on Everett Street.

At around 2:36 a.m., a Portland police officer attempted to pull over Olukogbon’s sedan after he allegedly ran several blinking red lights. Despite police lights and sirens, the suspect continued driving until he eventually stopped, according to the police report.

When officers approached the vehicle, Olukogbon reportedly became combative and fled on foot. Following a brief chase, officers apprehended him, but not without further resistance.

Olukogbon was transported to the Cumberland County Jail. His currently being held on $5,000 bail.

He now faces nine charges, including Driving to Endanger, Failure to Stop for an Officer, Assault on an Officer, and multiple counts of Refusing to Submit to Arrest or Detention. Additional drug-related charges were filed after authorities discovered 2.34 grams of cocaine and 0.62 grams of methamphetamine in his possession. He is also charged with Unlawful Trafficking in Scheduled Drugs and Falsifying Physical Evidence.

This is not the first time that Olukogbon, who sometimes also goes by Frank Oluko or Big Frank and has been living more recently in the Auburn area, has had a brush with law enforcement.

According to records from Florida, Olukogbon has previously been arrested multiple times on charges ranging from traffic violations and drug possession to evidence tampering and battery on a law enforcement officer. His most recent Florida arrest involved violations of probation related to robbery and grand theft charges.

Olukogbon lived in Auburn, ME, NY and FL but his heritage is likely Nigerian. That was conveniently not mentioned. Is this the Press Herald?
