Former President Donald Trump took a brief break from rallies and media interviews on Sunday to campaign in a less traditional way: working at a McDonald’s in Feasterville-Trevose, Pennsylvania, and manning the french fry station.

“I’ve always wanted to work at McDonald’s. I never did, I’m running against somebody that said she did, but it turned out to be a totally phony story,” said President Trump.
The McDonald’s shut down for normal operations while Trump learned how to use the fryer and served customers at the drive-thru window.
He served a succession of customers, selected beforehand for security reasons, and told them that their meals were on him.
Trump used his stop at McDonald’s to mock Vice President Kamala Harris for repeatedly claiming that she once worked at McDonald’s while refusing to provide any evidence.
“In college, I worked at McDonald’s to earn spending money,” said Vice President Harris on X.
She has repeatedly mentioned her time at McDonald’s, attempting to appear more relatable to working-class Americans, but even the left-leaning fact-check organization Snopes could find no evidence of any kind that she ever worked there.
Trump’s McDonald’s trip drew the ire of some on the left, who pointed to the fact that the restaurant wasn’t operating normally while Trump was there.
“For security reasons Trump’s McDonalds visit was carefully staged ahead of time, with drive-through customers selected and screened by Secret Service,” said CNN’s Brian Stelter on X.
Harris’s running mate, Gov. Tim Walz (D-Minn.), even claimed that Trump’s time at the restaurant was somehow disrespectful to the actual McDonald’s employees.
Some on the right were quick to point out the many staged photos taken by Democrats in the past, such as a photo of President Joe Biden receiving a COVID vaccine in a fake White House interior.
“Of course the president has to have security because there have been two attempts on his life in the last eight weeks. He can’t just walk into a McDonalds and, you know, sign a W-9 and actually go on the payroll, that’s just not how this works,” said Vice Presidential Nominee Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio).
The McDonald’s on St. John St. in Portland was one of only three in the state in the mid 60s when I actually worked there. 48 cents for a hamburger, fries and Coke. No breakfasts (opened at 11am). Big Macs weren’t invented at that time. Whole potatoes had to be peeled in a machine before they were diced and put in the fryolator. Shaking the basket of fries kept them from sticking together. I remember everything about it. Does Kamala? Did she get any questions on her stint by reporters?
