Mills Admin Hires ‘best professional cheat’ in Casino History to Advise Maine Casino Inspectors

The State of Maine is hiring a former professional casino gambling cheat to train the state’s casino inspectors, table game supervisors and other casino staff.

The Maine Department of Public Safety, which oversees the Maine Gambling Control Unit, will be paying casino table game protection consultant and ex-cheat Richard Marcus $12,000 for a four-day training, according to a state contract.

“Mr. Marcus was a prior casino cheat who developed many highly effective cheating techniques and is widely considered to have been the best professional cheat [in] casino gaming history,” department staff wrote in the contract.

“He has trained and offered consultation to more than 100 casinos worldwide,” they wrote. “Additionally, he offers training to surveillance and regulators on what to look for.”

On his LinkedIn profile, Marcus describes himself as a “unique casino game protection trainer.”

“Training is not just showing the cheat moves,” the former professional casino cheat wrote. “It is explaining why they work. It’s putting casino table games and surveillance staff in the shoes of professional casino cheats. It’s getting them inside the cheats’ heads.”

“I believe that if casino personnel understand how cheats think and how they use psychology to take control of personnel on the floor, they are much better equipped to defend their gaming tables against very skilled and professional casino-cheating teams,” he wrote.

Marcus will come to Maine for a four-day training, spending two days at each of the two casinos in the state — Oxford Casino in Oxford, and Hollywood Casino in Bangor.

The two casinos will be reimbursing the state for two-thirds of the training cost, and will be paying for and providing hotel rooms for Marcus during his stay.

Isn’t this something the casinos should be paying for?

Casinos are evil places that never should have been allowed in Maine. Their only purpose is to fleece the uneducated of money they cannot afford to lose. It is unfortunate that our school system is so poor at teaching math that too many Mainers are willing to bet against the house.

Gardiner is correct . Lottery tickets are a cruel tax on the mathematically challenged. How will Mainers buy their Fireball if they spent all their paycheck on the Maine State Lottery ? Don’t worry . There’s plenty of Chinese pot to be smoked . The Way Life Should Be !

Janet must be concerned that people are cheating her at her casinos .Duh . Ya think ?
They are taking “ her “ money ….kind of like what she’s doing to Maine taxpayers .
She is taking “our “ tax money and giving it to 75,000 illegal aliens that “ she “ wants to call the
“ New Mainers “. Virtue Signaler in Chief .
No place for them to live unless she builds new homes for them ….she’s doing that .
Next she’ll change the minimum wage for dish washers to 25 dollars an hour …..easy fix .
Add five bucks to your eggs and toast just to pay for having the honor of Zimba and Lupita washing your silverware .
They don’t have silverware where Zimba came form so it’s difficult to explain the importance of proper washing . Zimba says : People need to learn to eat with their hands like we did in Africa .
Multiculturalism is the New Direction for Maine . Diversity is Our Strength .
Zimba can now blow his whole paycheck gambling at Janet’s casino . Catholic Charities will step up to replace his gambling losses and buy his sneakers .
Everybody Wins !

I can see the anti trust reasons why the state has to sponsor this, but that doesn’t mean that the state ought to pay for it!

They aren’t just about listing casinos and bonuses — they’re genuinely focused on educating players. I found it here has dozens of articles and tutorials on topics like bankroll management, variance in gambling, basic and advanced poker strategies, odds calculation, and more. They want players to win sustainably, not just gamble blindly. It’s a full education platform as much as it is a review site.
