Two brothers are both facing criminal charges for operating under the influence (OUI) after police say they admitted to driving the same car while drunk.

Bangor Police say they received a report of a car driving erratically on outer Broadway at around 9 p.m. on Wednesday.

Witnesses told police that they had observed the vehicle pull over and the man who had been driving moved to the passenger seat, while the man in the passenger seat moved to the driver’s seat.

Police located the two men, identified as brothers Manoach Bizumuremyi, 27, and Muhoza Bizumuremyi, 28, while they were standing outside of the vehicle in a parking lot.

“Surprisingly, both admitted they had been driving the car, admitted to swapping drivers, and both admitted they shouldn’t have been driving the car,” Bangor Police said in a Thursday press release.

Both brothers failed field sobriety tests and were arrested for OUI.

According to police, the younger brother, Manoach Bizumuremyi, had been driving most of the trip and had a blood alcohol level of 0.23%, while Muhoza Bizumuremyi had a blood alcohol level of 0.17%.

The legal limit in Maine for blood alcohol content for driving is 0.08%.

Manoach Bizumuremyi is charged with Class D OUI, and is being held at the Penobscot County Jail on $1,000 bail.

The older brother, Muhoza Bizumeremyi, has one previous offense within the past 10 years and was also charged with Class D OUI, and was held on $350 bail.

The Maine experiment……Let’s start with a great place to live with a surplus budget. Then, let’s let have half of MA and CT move here and elect a liberal government. Then those liberal politicians say hey, why don’t we import a shitload of people from war torn countries that can’t speak our language and have zero job skills. So how did this experiment work? Whelp, the state is financially unstable, half the state has no representation and these two assholes are representative of our “New Mainers” future. Hmmmm…..🤔

I think if Bangor took a page out of the Lewiston playbook and had a whole street of halal variety stores selling Lyca Mobile international cell phone minutes, this could have been avoided.

Wait a minute, the one feral has already a DUI and his bail is only 350? And the other only 1000? While real Americans get bail over 3000 at least plus lose their license immediately and car is impounded.

I don’t know, these guys are either very dumb or very smart. With the dismal performance of the prosecutors office I think a good defense lawyer (supplied by mills) could twist this case into a knot. Who was driving at the time of the offence? We’ll wait to see what happens.
