The DEI Karens are declaring victory over the discount-retailer Target.
After a year-long “boycott” organized by the crowd promoting Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, Target suits have cried uncle.
Or maybe nowadays the more politically-correct aunt.
On bended knee, the department-store brass now says they will invest $2 billion in black-ownwd franchises.
Target officials saved face by saying heck folks that was always our plan.
The 2,200-store chain “is more committed than ever to creating growth and opportunity for all,” the retailer said in a statement to Axios.
Target said a year ago it was scaling back some diversity initiatives upon President Trump’s return to the White House.
Weeks later, the pastor of an Atlanta church launched a 40-day Lent boycott, arguing the company had retreated from post-George Floyd commitments.
The boycott became part of a broader push by some black leaders to use economic pressure in response to corporate DEI rollbacks.
The apparently-bored boycotters are now claiming victory over Target.
Way to go Karen!
