Maine Bar Dismisses Misconduct Complaint Against Kennebec DA Maeghan Maloney

Maloney's attorney suggested the complaint was a politically motivated attempt to undermine the DA's campaign for Attorney General

The Maine Board of Overseers of the Bar has dismissed a professional misconduct complaint against Kennebec and Somerset County District Attorney Maeghan Maloney, concluding the matter without a hearing and with prejudice, meaning it cannot be refiled.

The complaint stemmed from Maloney’s 2023 contact with a staff member of the Family Violence Project regarding Pamela Boivin, an Oakland woman who alleged she was drugged and sexually assaulted at a Waterville bar. Boivin’s lurid story about being drugged and assaulted at a popular Mexican restaurant in central Maine went viral online, but she declined subsequent interview requests from the Maine Wire.

Little came of Boivin’s salacious complaint until she accused Maloney of attempting to circumvent her attorney and influence her by contacting a friend who worked with the Family Violence Project.

Maloney has consistently denied any wrongdoing. In public statements and filings with the Bar, she said she reached out to the Family Violence Project contact out of concern for Boivin’s well-being, not to interfere with her legal representation or silence her criticism.

“I am pleased that all prosecutors will now feel comfortable working with our community partner advocates to give the best service possible to victims,” Maloney said in a statement. “The Bar has recognized that not only does Maine statute allow this collaboration… it encourages it.”

Attorney Joseph Jabar, who represented Maloney in the proceedings, linked the complaint to her campaign for attorney general, suggesting the allegations were weaponized for political purposes.

Maloney was the only Democrat who stepped forward to run against Maine Attorney General Aaron Frey, an ally of Gov. Janet Mills (D), when the State Legislature voted on constitutional officer appointments in Dec. 2024.

“Now that the election is over, all charges have been dropped with prejudice and without a hearing,” Jabar said. “We have maintained from the beginning that DA Maloney acted in compliance with the law.”

Boivin’s allegations, which emerged in the left-leaning press in October 2024, claimed Maloney offered to share confidential information about both her sexual assault case and a separate criminal matter in which Boivin was charged. Boivin was arrested in April 2023 and later pleaded guilty to operating under the influence; other charges were dismissed. No charges were filed in connection with her assault allegations.

The Board’s dismissal brings an end to a months-long disciplinary process that had included a recommendation from an investigatory panel to hold a hearing.

File the complaint with the AG, DOJ, FBI if applicable rules apply. Use your proof to make a video and show how the state bar dismissed a valid compliant because they protect their own. The state bar are nothing more than crooked back scratchers.

Joseph Jabar has been Maloney’s go-to enabler and cohort for decades. He’s an ancient crook with nothing to lose, so she’s milking him until he reaches full vegetable status.

Maloney’s office is a hotspot for abuse of power rooted in personal bias and political vengeance. We’ve seen knowledge of staggering conflicts of interest that any honest prosecutor would have disclosed and addressed, but Maeghan Maloney is a narcissist and does not care.

Maloney has repeatedly failed to prosecute genuine sexual assault cases across Maine, allowing real predators to go unpunished while targeting individuals based on personal vendettas.

Let’s ELEVATE this nationally. Maeghan Maloney has more victims. Shame on the Maine Overseers of the Bar for being a pathetic, shameless group of lowlives who can’t do their jobs.

Maeghan Maloney’s statement is absurd and just goes to show how delusional she is.

“I am pleased that all prosecutors will now feel comfortable working with our community partner advocates to give the best service possible to victims,” Maloney said in a statement. “The Bar has recognized that not only does Maine statute allow this collaboration… it encourages it.”

“Prosecutors will now feel safe” – …Man, she’s such a manipulative headcase, implying that these charges created an air of fear in prosecutors. She tends to do this – fake the idea that groups are in agreement with her and to make herself a victim. Her behavior is objectively disgusting and I wish other prosecutors could look into this and make an example of her.

For one, it was an attorney with the Overseers of the Bar who found five counts of misconduct in a detailed report which included whistleblowers, witnesses, and audio. Shortly after, that attorney was reassigned to another organization. I assume this is why they are dropping this mess of theirs in such a nonsensical manner. Maloney’s complaints usually don’t make it this far.

This wasn’t a ‘collaboration’…the recipient of the voicemail was the whistleblower here. Maloney called the whistleblower, left a voicemail where she was cheerfully concerned (listen for yourself, audio online), repeatedly saying “you’re an advocate so I can do this” and attempts to indirectly control her accuser by asking this woman to have a “talk” with the rape victim. She wanted the lady to call her back because “she can’t really discuss it over the phone”, but you could hear the giddiness of a bully executing a plan to hurt someone.

The woman did not respond after hearing Maloney’s message, instead expressing discomfort over the voicemail and reporting it.

Collaborations do not involve only one person, but I know thinking isn’t Meaggits strong suit. Maloney did a poor job with the “shes mentally unwell and I am so concerned, here look at EVERYTHING I have on her” act. The root of this: the recipient of the voicemail was NOT an advocate, but a friend of the rape victim. The victim complained about Maloney and a male board member/donor/friend who had involvement in this case. Maloney figured she could reach out to the victim’s friend in an effort to silence the victim who shared her roadblocks with Maloney and her buddy. Maloney was not allowed to communicate with the victim directly. She was manipulating a case. What type of “help” did Maloney want this woman to provide to the victim? We will never know since the woman who received the voicemail reported it and ignored all further communications. If you read the witness statements in the bar report, Maloney further made this woman uncomfortable by going to her workplace and approaching her at public events, bringing up the issue after being ghosted. The poor lady was HIDING out because Maloney was following her arouns!

I find Maloney’s extreme sensitivity to criticism bizarre considering she took the steps to run for public office, use our funds, and partake in a role that absolutely should bring criticism and transparency. Also, don’t dish out abuse and expect silence. Maloney’s not some bigshot people are desperate to take down. She’s unknown to most everyone except individuals she’s abused, also their loved ones. Most people don’t even know the DA’s name. She needs to find a better excuse than the DA Witch Hunt BS. I find that people, especially the spineless journalists around here, don’t research the matters they write about, instead taking the obedient approach. There is a wealth of info out there – fact check! What happened to asking others to elaborate or provide proof?

We’re in Maine…it’s almost hard to believe such deep corruption exists in this quiet little state but then again, this is what happens when egos gather and delude themselves into thinking they’re above everyone.

Tell Maeghan Maloney to RESIGN.

For a Harvard Law grad, she strikes me as stupid: https://www.newscentermaine.com/article/news/da-admonishment/97-b7133bb1-35be-4942-bacd-e9c652cd68e7

Now if she’d called the bar for advice, she’d been golden…

And a Truman scholarship to Harvard Law — LEFTIE….

Maine wire, (this didn’t happen at a Mexican restaurant, btw)
First off, Amy Calder had the story and dropped it. She is not going to rock the boat. She’s lazy and friendly with the horrible folks that covered this up. It’s the biggest scandal in Maine’s history.
If you did real insightful journalism, you could get a Pulitzer Prize. You certainly will. Because this story has enough twists and turns in it. And is definitely not over. I have read her FB posts and they are earth shattering. This is a very smart woman with multiple degrees. The last thing in my opinion is that she wanted to fight for justice each and every day. Almost 100 women have come to her to share similar stories. They have been ghosted by LE and alot of them were arrested after being drugged in bars and assaulted.
The corruption is so unbelievablly deep and needs exposure. This isn’t a left or right issue. The predators in Waterville don’t care about politics.
She was drugged and SA and sodomized
She was arrested and thrown in jail for dui
Never taken to the hospital during the jailing
The perp stole her debit and drained her account during her jailing
The police ghosted her and stalled..eventually threatened her with arrest for filing a false police report.
Her physical therapist told her that the Officer on her case warned her about waterville bars and rape. Then got afraid and dropped her as a patient.
Maloney arrest the victims son with false charges that were dropped completely to intimidate her.

The victim is believed by her family, friends and medical staff that did a rape kit. She is a very educated person. A college professor, veteran , lawyer and an ex cop. Look it up.

If you DIG..there is so much more to be uncovered!
The justice system let her down.
The media could take them down!

The DA is protecting the owner of the bar at any cost. Why? Does he have dirt on the whole bunch. Because they have gone above and beyond to protect his business. She almost got removed from being DA. She should have been.
A good reporter should wonder why?
The bar owner erased the security footage for that day of the assault. It was Easter Sunday 2 years ago. It was daytime.
All the evidence was there and LE claimed it was a made up story. The PD didn’t handle the blood evidence correctly and it was destroyed.
Maloney, president of the Sexual Assault crisis center, prosecuted her for DUI. The victim was roofied.

There are dozens of women with similar stories in central maine.
