‘Scary Poppins’ Rides Again, This Time to Defend the 51 Former Intel Officers Who Lied on Hunter’s Laptop

Nina Jankowicz, previously the head of former President Joe Biden’s administration’s short-lived “Disinformation Governance Board,” defended the 51 former intelligence officials who signed the letter casting doubt on the Hunter Biden laptop emails during a Tuesday hearing.

The former officials signed an Oct. 19, 2020 letter claiming the emails reported by the New York Post had “all the classic earmarks of a Russian information operation,” but the Daily Caller News Foundation verified the authenticity of an email on the laptop on Oct. 29, 2020. However, Jankowicz, during a House Foreign Affairs Committee hearing, said the former officials were merely using their “right to free speech” and asserted their claim was accurate “based on the evidence at the time.”

WATCH:

“Do you believe that the 51 former intelligence officials, who said that the Hunter Biden’s laptop were a product of Russian disinformation?” Republican Washington Rep. Michael Baumgartner asked. “Do you think they impacted the trust of the American people in the intelligence establishment to successfully use social media to go after terrorists?”

“Sir, does free speech only apply when you like what’s being said? Those guys were exercising their right to free speech and actually, what they said was that it bore the hallmarks of a disinformation campaign which, based on the evidence at the time, was true,” Jankowicz responded.

A cybersecurity expert told the DCNF that an email Hunter Biden received in April 2015 from a Burisma executive regarding an introduction to then-Vice President Joe Biden, which was key to a New York Post investigation, was undoubtedly authentic.

The DCNF received a complete copy of Hunter Biden’s alleged laptop from former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani and gave Robert Graham, the founder of the cybersecurity firm Errata Security, a copy of the email and its metadata for forensic analysis.

In less than three years, the Biden administration brought on six out of the 51 former officials to serve in roles. For instance, three joined a federal “intelligence experts” national security group, according to a September 2023 announcement.

Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard announced on March 10 that she had revoked the security clearances of all 51 former officials.

Jankowicz also posted a video to TikTok in February 2022 claiming  she was “Mary Poppins of disinformation.”

“Information laundering is really quite ferocious. It’s when a huckster takes some lies and makes them sound precocious by saying them in Congress or a mainstream outlet, so disinformation’s origins are slightly less atrocious,” Jankowicz sang.

Moreover, she was previously part of a band called “Moaning Myrtles.”
