According to Border Patrol, during their investigation, agents discovered that the illegal alien was wanted by Interpol for aggravated murder in El Salvador.
The Salvadoran illegal alien is also a confirmed member of the street gang and designated Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO) MS-13.
“The Border Patrol in Maine is here to ensure the safety and security of our communities. Houlton Sector Border Patrol Agents courageously remove violent and dangerous offenders who are present in this country in violation of the law,” USBP Houlton Sector Acting Chief Patrol Agent Christopher Kuhn said Thursday.
Last Friday’s arrest marks the third apprehension of illegal alien FTO gang members in Maine.
An illegal alien arrested by Border Patrol late last year near Old Orchard Beach was found to be a member of Tren de Aragua and was deported to Ecuador in March.
In April, another Tren de Aragua member was arrested in Maine for theft.
