An illegal alien who was arrested late last year and found to be a member of the Venezuelan transnational criminal street gang Tren de Aragua has been deported to Ecuador, U.S. Border Patrol Houlton Sector announced Sunday.

According to Border Patrol, a resident agent assigned to Maine’s Calais Station arrested the foreign national near Old Orchard Beach in December 2024 for illegal reentry after deportation.

A subsequent investigation into the illegal alien revealed that he is a member of the Tren de Aragua gang, Border Patrol said.

After 77 days in jail, the alien has been deported to Ecuador, the agency said.

On his first day in office, President Donald Trump signed an executive order to begin the process of designating various drug cartels and transnational gangs, including Tren de Aragua, as Foreign Terrorist Organizations. That designation was officially enacted on Feb. 20.

I can hear the Unitarian church in Yarmouth now…. “But, but, but…. He was our neighbor…. I am deeply troubled we cannot just coexist…. Water is water, and love is love…. And we welcome all as our neighbors…. Red man BAD!”

Once again the liberal state of Maine has welcomed another “New Mainer”. You can bet this isn’t the only one of these little bastards that are up here.

If you want to go all 1984, embed a computer chip that will explode if he gets close to the boarder again. Can anyone say, ” 15 minute cities”? OR Digital ID perhaps? Sorry folks I really need to repent of that.

Could someone please explain why we deport these thugs? Aren’t they just going to find another way back. With the new knowledge they have gained about getting here and making it worth their while, aren’t they just bombs waiting to go off? They should be jailed pending execution – unless someone believes they will get rehabilitated in El Salvador.
