Have you ever been in the middle of a binge session of Real Housewives and heard your stomach grumble? If so, you might have thought what a drag it would be to waddle to the store to cash in your SNAP benefits on a jumbo bag of chips and some Yoo-hoo to wash them down, and you’re right. Well, worry no longer, help is on the way, and its name is UBER.

Since Fall 2024, anyone receiving Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits, commonly known as food stamps, has been able to use the taxpayer-funded program to have groceries delivered to their doors via Uber Eats.
Uber customers on the welfare program will have three blissful months without delivery fees, allowing them to have candy and soda schlepped to their homes by someone who actually is hustling for a living entirely using taxpayer funds. Unfortunately, customers will still need to leave the couch to open the door for the delivery driver.
After the three-month honeymoon period, Uber Eats customers on food stamps will need to input a secondary payment method for delivery fees because EBT cards will not be able to pay for delivery fees or tips.
The program applies to all SNAP-accepting stores that partner with Uber Eats.

As welfare recipients enjoy the option of a newly sedentary lifestyle, some Republican legislators, along with Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS) Robert F. Kennedy Jr., are working to end SNAP benefits for junk food and soda.
A staggering 20 percent of all SNAP benefits are used to buy junk food, with half of that going to soda and sugary drinks alone.

Did you catch the picture of the healthy food?
Ha!
To be more realistic it should be a picture with chips, boxed mac & cheese, soda, candy
Did the author of this article and title ever consider the possibility that some, if not a majority, of the SNAP customers who would/do use this service are DISABLED, have young children at home, don’t have a vehicle, or other legitimate reason why they need to use delivery services? Simply needing to rely on SNAP assistance does not preclude people from having access to the food that SNAP pays for when they are suffering from the condition for which SNAP was provided to them… Have a little bit of compassion, Seamus!
