Elected Maine Official Calls Tax Complainers Lazy Couch-Keyboard Addicts, Then Tries To Pull It Back

A city councilor from York County’s largest city went off on taxpayers for whining online – and then after apparent backlash claimed he was sorry for overreacting.

Brad Cote of Biddeford had complained that residents whine about taxes but don’t get off their couches to participate in council meetings.

“For all the complaints about taxes, barely anyone actually showed up to make that argument,” he was quoted by the Biddeford Buzz news outlet, referring to a recent meeting.

“If you aren’t willing to get up from your keyboard/mobile device to show up or participate in the process, you may not be pleased with the results,” Cote added.

The backlash was swift from taxpayers who didn’t appreciate the condescending lecture from an elected official.

Cote apparently realized he’d better do a Clean-Up in Aisle Taxpayer so he then issued an “apology” through Biddeford Buzz.

“I would like to apologize for my earlier comment regarding getting people to attend meetings and get involved. I was frustrated that I spend a bunch of time working on different city issues and what I read online on a dailv basis is overwhelming negative,” he said.

“I need to develop a thicker skin,” Cote added.

The question is whether the “apology” is for what he said or what he believes.

Tax serfs always have the right to complain, given how utterly robbed we are by “government,” but this guy is correct though. Town meeting attendance where I live is usually very small relative to our town’s population.

Is Biddeford still Maine?
Before you laugh, at one time you could smell the awesome B & M beans on the bridge. One might swing into the Humpty Dumpty on RT 1 in Scarbourgh.
Being as though that’s all gone, I would have to ASSUME that Massachusetts Investment reclaimed back some of the Bay Colony due to reckless spending and behavior by the appointed “handlers” to the newly formed (1820) State of Maine.
New Flag……New Boarder?

Just sayin’.

Normal people have to work for a living. They can’t show up at all these meetings. The only people who can show up, are the non-working libs. That is why these politicians kiss their butts. They are too stupid to realize that they are being shown a distorted view of reality.

We don’t have to show up to state our views that is why we have the internet and US Mail. Biddeford is just another Marxist cesspool with swap creatures like Brad Cote. Ask anyone who pays taxes in Biddo what they get for those taxes, crap schools and crap roads!!!

Politicians are always condescending. It’s part of their narcissistic nature. This time he is right, though

Show up and be told you can’t speak as soon as you voice disagreement. Why bother

Seeing that many of us work from sun up to sun down to pay these taxes and afford to live here, we depend on those elected to represent us with compassion and empathy! Obviously this twit lacks both, and as far as making public comment, well maybe he should STFU or even better just go away!!
