At about 1 p.m. on Wednesday, June 25, fire crews from Princeton, Baileyville, Indian Township, and Grand Lake Stream responded to a blaze at 13 Main St. in Princeton.
The property showed signs of trespassing, prompting suspicion about the fire’s origin. Investigators from the Fire Marshal’s Office determined the fire was intentionally set.
Anthony Thurlow, 39, described by authorities as an “unhoused man,” and who was already in custody at the Washington County Jail on an unrelated warrant, was identified as the suspect.
Picked up on an outstanding warrant after Tuesday’s blaze was sparked, clues led investigators to the homeless man.
Thurlow now faces arson charges in connection with the incident. Multiple agencies, including the Princeton and Indian Township Police Departments, an Indian Township Game Warden, and a Washington County Sheriff’s Deputy, provided support at the scene.
