Female Massachusetts Cop Later Shot By Fellow Officers During Restraining-Order Melee Allegedly Attacked Boyfriend In Maine

A vacationing cop repeatedly slugged her firefighter boyfriend in an otherwise-sleepy western Maine town amid a pre-July 4th violent domestic battle, officials say.

Kelsey Fitzsimmons, 28, a North Andover, Massachusetts police officer, reportedly assaulted her male firefighter lover, Justin Aylaian, during a holiday break in Bethel.

Two days later Fitzsimmons was shot and wounded by officers of her own department as they served her in Massachusetts with a restraining order that Aylaian had sought.

Aylaian requested the order because he said he feared Fitzsimmons might kill him or their infant son, or both.

The firefighter sought the abuse-prevention restraining order against new mom Fitzsimmons, fearing that the disturbing and suicidal behavior she exhibited while she was pregnant and after she gave birth would escalate.

In the application for the order, the boyfriend alleged that Fitzsimmons struck him three times with a closed fist while they were recently visiting Maine.

He feared for his life, he said, and left to stay in a hotel.

Amid the fighting, friends of hers called police in Bethel and in Massachusetts.

The assault case is under police investigation.

Fitzsimmons was hospitalized in March soon after giving birth for treatment of postpartum depression.

Aylaian’s abuse-order request also seeks sole custody of the couple’s baby even though they’re not married.

Fitzsimmons is currently on administrative leave from her North Andover police job
