Self-Deportations Using CBP Home App in Tens-of-Thousands, Breitbart Reports

Tens of thousands of illegal immigrants have now used the Trump Administration’s Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Home app to self-deport back to their countries of origin, according to Department of Homeland Security (DHS) officials speaking to Breitbart News on Monday.

Under President Joe Biden, the CBP Home app was known as the CBP One app, and helped illegal immigrants enter and remain in the country. President Donald Trump’s Administration re-branded the app, and altered its purpose, so that it now facilitates self-deportations.

Illegal aliens who use the app to self-deport will have a better opportunity to return to the country legally in the future, an option which will not be available to those illegal immigrants who are forcibly deported after an arrest by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

According to officials who spoke with Breitbart, tens-of-thousands have used the app to facilitate their self-deportations, which the DHS believes has saved American taxpayers millions of dollars, because ICE raids are significantly more expensive.

The self-deportations also serve to protect ICE agents, who have faced a massive increase in violent resistance as they carry out their duties.

The Trump Administration has taken steps to encourage self-deportations, including providing free flights for illegals returning to their home countries, and $1,000 payments of taxpayer funds to illegal aliens who can prove they have returned.

On the other side if the fence, the Administration has also begun issuing $1,000 per-day fines for any illegal immigrants who remain in the country after they have been issued a final removal order.

Though the app has so far only been used to facilitate the self-deportation of tens of thousands of illegal aliens, a relatively small number compared to the millions present in the country, that likely does not account for the total number of self-removals, many of whom may have left without informing authorities.
