Sheriff’s deputies executed a search warrant at 140 South Shore Drive in Rangeley Plantation following a two-month investigation into suspected drug trafficking at the residence.
The investigation began after the Sheriff’s Department received reports of drug trafficking, and a two-month period of surveillance allowed the department to compile enough evidence to apply for and attain a search warrant.
While executing the warrant and during a subsequent investigation, law enforcement discovered approximately 74 grams of methamphetamine and 81 grams of cocaine along with five firearms, and other unspecified items.
Deputies arrested Paul Castrantas, 62, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania while executing the warrant. He faces charges of aggravated unlawful trafficking of drugs class A, and is currently being held in the Franklin County Detention Center with a $10,000 bail.

Maine Drug Enforcement Agency (MDEA) officers, along with Border Patrol agents assisted in the investigation. The Sheriff’s Department did not specify why Border Patrol was involved, and did not indicate that Castrantas was in the country illegally.
