The landowner called the police at around 4:35 p.m. on Sunday after he found human remains in a wooded area while walking along his property line.

Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department deputies responded and were later joined by the Maine State Police, the Maine Warden Service, and the Damariscotta Police Department.

Following an examination of the scene, investigators determined that the remains may be those of Tyler Low, 34, of Damariscotta, who was reported missing in May.

The remains were transported to the Maine Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta to confirm the tentative identification and identify the cause of death.

Police did not specify how long ago they believe the person suspected to be Low died. At this time, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department does not believe that any crime was involved in the death.

According to reports from the time of his disappearance, Low was an experienced woodsman and was last seen wandering into the woods behind his house.
