Construction workers in Derry, New Hampshire, discovered the body of a woman near their worksite on Monday, just one day after another body was found in Merrimack, NH.

The Derry Police Department received a report at about 1:25 p.m. on Monday from construction workers at a site behind the business at 71 Birch Street that they had discovered an inert body they believed to be deceased.

Responding officers found a woman lying at the base of an embankment on the edge of a retention pond and verified that she was deceased.

The body was not easily visible from a nearby driveway or business, and workers only found her when they were landscaping the area.

Investigators found security footage from days earlier showing the woman walking in the area alone and apparently sick or impaired.

Footage showed the woman walking past the retention pond, falling, and landing near the pond, where her body was discovered.

Police described the woman as being between 45 and 50 years old, white, and with dark blonde hair. She was not found with any purse, cell phone, or ID.

Police announced later on Monday that they had identified the woman, but that they were not releasing her name pending notification of her next of kin. They did not announce the cause of death but do not believe that foul play was involved.

The discovery of the woman’s body came just one day after a duck hunter in Merrimack, NH, discovered decomposed human remains near the bank of the Merrimack River.
