The Maine State Fire Marshal’s Office requested public assistance on Thursday for any information surrounding the theft of an antique 1970 Buick, which was later found burned in Ripley.

According to the Marshal’s Office, a cream-colored Buick was stolen from 55 Pember Road in Levant between 1:00 and 5:00 p.m. on Monday.

At 6:00 p.m., local firefighters responded to a wildland fire on Fush Road in Ripley. While extinguishing the blaze, firefighters discovered a Buick burned on the property.

The Fire Marshal believes that the fire was arson. The alleged arson notably comes as Maine faces statewide drought conditions.

The car appears from the pictures provided to be a Buick Riviera. A 1970 Buick Riviera in good condition is valued at around $15,300.

The Marshal’s office requested that any members of the public report sightings of the stolen vehicle and asked people in the area to review their security cameras for footage.
