Lorna Brackett and Vincent White were last seen drinking together 34 years ago at the USA Lounge in Fairfield.

Eight hours later – on November 18, 1991 – police found their bodies in a Waterville house that had exploded in the middle of the night.

A neighbor had called Waterville Police around 3 a.m. that morning complaining of loud voices and fireworks at 7 Reservoir Street.

Cops who reported to the scene didn’t see any evidence of the neighbor’s claims and left.

Police later responded again at dawn after neighbors reported an explosion and fire at the house in question.

Steve McCausland, the-then state police spokesman, said “the fire was so intense when firefighters arrived, that the electrical wire had melted off the building, and was arcing.”

McCausland said then that the fatal fire had been intentionally set.

Lab analysis of the debris recovered from the site determined that an accelerant was used.

Brackett and White had left the USA Lounge around 10 p.m. on November 17, 1991, police said. They were never seen alive again.

Brackett, 25, grew up in Oakland and graduated from Messalonskee High School, where she excelled at field hockey. She was divorced with two children.

White, 46, also a divorcee, owned the house in which the couple died and was a general contractor who had grown up in the Belfast area, according to MurderSheTold.com.

\Maine State Police, who occasionally highlight cold cases on social media, are asking anyone with information on the baffling case to call 207-624-7076 or use their tip form.

Relatives of the two victims are also asking the public for help.
