An early-morning fire at the former Noble Barbeque building on Forest Avenue brought a full Portland Fire Department response Wednesday, briefly blocking traffic and drawing attention to the long-vacant site.

Crews arrived just before 7 a.m. after a smoker inside the building caught fire. Firefighters were seen moving in and out of the structure as they worked to contain the blaze.

Traffic in the area was halted during the response but returned to normal shortly afterward. No injuries were reported, and firefighters cleared the scene soon after. The extent of the damage has not yet been determined.

The incident adds yet another disruption to a busy corridor already accustomed to congestion and construction delays.
