The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department closed in on a suspect early Wednesday morning following a week-long investigation into six bullet holes discovered in a newly constructed Alna home as the owners were moving in.

On January 6, Lincoln deputies began their investigation when the homeowners of a newly constructed Head Tide Hill Road residence discovered six bullet holes in the building on the same day they closed on the purchase and began moving in.

Some of the bullets went through windows and traveled into the house.

Deputies determined that the bullets were from a small-caliber firearm when they recovered bullet fragments and launched an investigation.

As a result of the investigation, deputies tracked down the suspect, Jacob McInnis Jr., 18, of Whitefield. Det. Sgt. Ron Rollins went to his home at 12:15 a.m. on Wednesday morning, took him into custody without incident, and transported him to the Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscasset.

He was charged with two Class C felonies: aggravated criminal mischief and reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon.

He is currently being held on a $1,500 bail pending an initial court appearance.
