“I am running as a principled Independent, committed to professional, nonpartisan leadership in public safety. I believe the Office of Sheriff must remain above partisan politics. Public safety leadership requires accountability, transparency, and a clear focus on putting people over politics,” said Pellerin.
Pellerin has worked in law enforcement for over thirty years and has experience at the local, county, state, and federal levels.
He began his career working with the Buxton and York Police Departments, where he eventually served as police chief.
He currently serves as the Chief Deputy of the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office.
Previously, he worked as a U.S. Secret Service agent and as an agent with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General.
“I also served 12 years on the Maine Criminal Justice Academy Board of Trustees, including seven years as Chair, helping oversee training standards and accountability for more than 5,000 certified law enforcement and corrections officers statewide,” he said.
While Pellerin works in Cumberland County, he lives in Dayton.
“The Sheriff’s Office exists to serve and protect the people of York County. I look forward to earning the trust of voters and building a Sheriff’s Office that sets the standard for professionalism, accountability, and service in Maine,” said Pellerin.
His announcement did not mention Sheriff King or the controversies in his office that were recently exposed by The Maine Wire.
The Maine Wire reached out to Pellerin to request an interview, but he did not immediately respond.
