The Maine State Police confirmed that the unrelated deaths they are investigating in Standish and Augusta were both shooting homicides and identified the victims.

At 11:15 p.m. on Monday, police began an investigation into a death at a residence on Flagg Street in Augusta.

Previously, police released scant details, saying only that they responded to reports of an unspecified incident.

On Friday, they confirmed that they were responding to a reported shooting at a residence.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta concluded an autopsy on the victim and identified the death as a homicide caused by a gunshot.

Police also released the name of the victim, Billyjack Curtis, 51, of Augusta.

State Police also provided an update on a Standish death that occurred on Tuesday at around 9:28 p.m.

The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Department responded to a residence on Kennie Drive in Standish following reports of an altercation.

Law enforcement arrived to discover one dead man and another man suffering from non-life-threatening injuries.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner identified the deceased as Thomas Foster, 23, of Porter, and determined that the death was a homicide caused by a gunshot.

Neither incident has led to an arrest, though both remain under investigation.
