At approximately 3:02 p.m., the Auburn Police Department and the Auburn Fire Department responded to reports of a medical emergency at a homeless encampment near the railroad tracks at 104 Washington Street North.

The first responders quickly located a 47-year-old homeless man who was deceased upon their arrival.

Police do not believe the death is suspicious, but an investigation is ongoing.

They did not release the name of the suspect or whether drugs are believed to be involved.

Notably, the Maine State Fire Marshal’s Office responded to assist in the investigation, though the Auburn Police Department did not mention whether fire was involved.
