A traffic stop on Route 9 in Eddington last week led to the seizure 60 grams of fentanyl, the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office announced Thursday.
According Penobscot Sheriff Troy Morton, shortly before 9 p.m. on Wednesday, April 3, a deputy assigned to the towns of Eddington and Clifton conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on Route 9 in Eddington.
Morton said that during the traffic stop, the deputy determined that a passenger in the vehicle was out of jail with five sets of bail conditions.
The deputy conducted a search of the vehicle after establishing probable cause “based on multiple factors learned during the traffic stop,” Morton said.
The search of the vehicle revealed a total of 60 grams of fentanyl and other drug paraphernalia.
The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration considers 2 mg of fentanyl a potentially lethal dose, meaning the amount of fentanyl seized in the April 3 traffic stop could have supplied a lethal dose to 30,000 people.
“This incident supports the importance and appreciation our office has for our community policing contracts,,” Sheriff Morton said. “Our office and law enforcement throughout the state remain committed to removing these dangerous drugs from out communities.”
Morton said the incident remains under investigation and no further information will be released at this time.

We all know fentanyl is coming from China through our open boarders. Why is Biden doing this to us? Why is our state leadership I ask the Senit Pres. and Governor afraid to stop the drug growing in our woods? Why are they doing this to our families?
Just more demonrat actions to enslave the citizens into subjects!
