Jared Golden Said an Obviously True Thing About Biden’s Student Debt Scheme — and Radical Leftists Are Losing Their Minds

Maine’s liberals spent Friday bellyaching online because U.S. Rep. Jared Golden (ME-CD2), a Democrat, had the audacity to oppose President Joe Biden’s unconstitutional plan to transfer $430 billion of student loan debt from debtors and saddle it on taxpayers.

In response to a blog post from an Arabella Advisors-funded nonprofit, Golden posted a searing statement attacking “radical leftist elites.”

“Sadly, this is what radical leftist elites are learning about ‘democracy’ these days — silence and destroy anyone who disagrees with your views or goals,” Golden said on X, formerly know as Twitter. “I stand by my vote and my opposition to forking out $10,000 to people who freely chose to attend college.”

The blog post Golden was responding to criticized Golden and his fellow “Blue Dog Democrats” for accepting a maximum donation from Sallie Mae, a publicly traded corporation that services student loans, after he voted to block Biden’s scheme.

Golden was one of two Democrats who voted in favor of a Republican resolution that aimed to prevent Biden’s bid to transfer student loan debt onto the American government and taxpayers.

Although many of Golden’s critics seem to be under the impression that Sallie Mae would have been harmed by the student debt plan, they would still have been compensated for the loans — the money would just come from people who didn’t benefit from the loans, as Golden pointed out.

Also, as at least one Twitter user pointed out, Golden would potentially have been a direct beneficiary of the student loan plan, since his financial disclosures show that his wife has between $15,000 and $50,000 in student loans.

But Golden’s heresy against a cherished socialist pipe dream earned him the ire of online liberals.

Ironically, the online left only confirmed precisely what Golden said about them in his statement.

Because Golden opposed student debt “cancellation” — a policy that would have disproportionately benefited white millennial college graduates — he’s a racist.

The author of one of the more tedious newspaper columns in the state was particularly aroused with Golden’s comments.

The out-of-stater who runs an anti-Sen. Susan Collins social media account chimed in with a bizarre comment comparing student loans to PPP loans, which only existed in the first place because the government shutdown the economy.

Sadly for Golden, he’s now made an enemy of “Mike from PA”.

This sounds like a dog-whistle.

Ethan here wants Democratic lawmakers to “explode housing in bangor” so more Democrats will move to the Second Congressional District.
