Somerset County Sheriff Dale Lancaster’s office took down yet another illegal cannabis cultivation and processing hub on Tuesday located in Harmony, according to sources who watched the law enforcement action take place.
The 10 Cooley Road residence was purchased by Dongyan Liang of 72 Melrose Ave., Staten Island, N.Y. in Jan. 2023.
Shortly after the purchase, Liang entered into a standard easement agreement with Central Maine Power (CMP), a modification commonly encountered when commercial-grade power is installed at otherwise residential properties to supply electricity to illicit marijuana grows.
An eyewitness told the Maine Wire that a single individual was arrested during the course of the raid. According to the Somerset County Jail, Dongming Liao, a U.S. citizen, was booked shortly after the raid occurred with bail set at $5,000.
The site, which was previously known to the Maine Wire, is also affiliated with Jian Qiao Tan, formerly of 72 Melrose Ave, Staten Island, N.Y.
According to documents inspected by the Maine Wire, Jian Tan was the name of an individual who accepted a shipment in December at 10 Cooley of a large piece of machinery from Eteros Technologies USA, a Las Vegas-based producer of commercial-scale marijuana processing equipment.
Eteros, via their subsidiary Triminator, touts products that can efficiently dry, process, and shred mature cannabis flower, as well as products that can extract the primary psychoactive ingredients into a more potent form.
Although the Somerset County Sheriff’s Department has yet to disclose how much illegal cannabis was confiscated from the site, an eyewitness told the Maine Wire that law enforcement pulled thirty or more black trash bags of what they believed to be processed cannabis product out of the three story garage adjacent to the primary residence.
Real estate listing photos show the property before it was purchased last January.
The federal Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and personnel from the Maine Office of Cannabis Policy were also present during the raid, according to a witness. The witness also said that one large van was confiscated from the property.
Witnesses did not see any officials from the Maine State Police on site.
When the Maine Wire visited the property on March 1, the telltale signs of a commercial-scale marijuana operation could be observed, including upgraded electrical infrastructure, the aroma of cannabis, and a large white Ford Transit van with California license plates.
