Juan Bernal, Chief Patrol Agent of the U.S. Border Patrol’s Houlton Sector, is warning tourists who plan to come to Maine for the April 8 total solar eclipse against crossing the Canada-U.S. border illegally.

Northern Maine, which will be in the pathway of totality for the solar eclipse, is expected to receive a large influx of tourists from out of state and Canada for the rare celestial event.

“It is Border Patrol’s mission to ensure the safety of our Nation by reducing the likelihood of dangerous individuals from entering the United States between legal ports of entry,” Chief Patrol Agent Bernal said Tuesday.

“Any incidents occurring at the international border, causing our agents to respond, may take away from our mission focus and our ability to keep everyone safe,” he added.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) put out a statement Tuesday ahead of “Eclipse Weekend” requesting public assistance to ensure that tourists coming to Maine do not inhibit Border Patrol activity.

“Tourists unfamiliar with the area are advised that crossing the international border between Canada and the United States, even accidentally, is illegal. Penalties for crossing the border between legal ports of entry include being fined or imprisoned for up to six months or both,” CBP stated.

Maine Gov. Janet Mills has also asked that tourists be on the lookout for “hungry black bears” and to take off their eclipse glasses before driving.

It’s no joke – it's spring in Maine, and black bears are out of their dens and looking for food! Black bear attacks are uncommon, but they will act aggressive if surprised or cornered. Stay clear! I’m confused, Is there a REASON people might want to see the eclipse from America as opposed to Canada? Do we have more free treats here? Is JANET planning to hand out some gift cards along with the fussing over Black Bears and eclipse glasses? At this point, NOTHING would be a surprise.

…don’t be surprised if these ‘tourists’ aren’t seeking asylum from the oppressive Trudeau Canadian Cuba. They will get plenty of freebies and rights they aren’t getting there. Watch for a mass exodus!

Don’t cross the border illegally unless you want free stuff! Don’t forget to ask for your free Obama Phone
